How to use:

ORGANIC GREEN TEA (Camellia sinensis) - Green tea has been shown to exert a direct inhibition of gastric and pancreatic lipases and a stimulation of thermogenesis. In an open study, the effects of green tea were evaluated in moderately obese patients. After 3 months, body weight was decreased by 4.6% and waist circumference by 4.48%. Results suggest that green tea extract can be a helpful for the treatment of obesity, which exerts its activity by several ways: inhibition of lipases and stimulation of thermogenesis (metabolic production of heat). Recent research on green tea’s thermogenic properties has demonstrated a synergistic interaction between caffeine and catechin polyphenols that appears to prolong stimulation of thermogenesis. In addition to exerting its own antioxidant effects, green tea has been shown to increase the activity of antioxidant and detoxifying enzymes (glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione S-transferase, catalase, and quinone reductase). Green tea has also been shown to positively affect intestinal dysbiosis by raising levels of Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria while lowering levels of pathogenic bacteria. Improving detoxification and supporting gut flora help further provide systemic support for improving metabolic efficiency and help normalise the ratio of body fat/lean tissue.

ORGANIC NOPAL (Opuntia-ficus indica) - NOPAL is an all-natural organic food product that is made with 100% natural dehydrated leaves of a cactus called Opuntia ficus-indica, commonly known as Barbary fig or prickly pear. In Mexico the Nopales (from the Nahuatl word nopalli for the pads) are a vegetable made from the young cladophyll (pad) segments of prickly pear, carefully peeled to remove the spines. NOPAL is a new nutritional supplement rich in nutrients and fibre (soluble and insoluble) and has been shown to be beneficial for weight management. New research also reveals enormous potential for diverse applications using this food supplement. The high fibre content (approximately >30% by weight) of Nopal promotes satiety by increasing its volume in the stomach and by naturally slowing transit time, hence aiding glucose regulation. This product on its own, or as part of a weight management plan, offers a new approach to losing weight by reducing fat absorption (due to the lipophilic nature of nopal), aiding digestive function (including gut flora regulation), improving glycaemic regulation and inhibiting inflammatory responses through regulation of blood lipids. Research into the lipophilic binding nature of Opuntia shows that 1.6g of the plant increases fat excretion on average of 27%, compared to placebo. Nopal also exerts a diuretic effect and so may be beneficial in cases of oedema (fluid retention).

Interactions and side effects - In most cases only side benefits are experienced. Exercise and organic food will help with the quality of your skin, your mood and energy levels. The supplements help ensure intake of important trace nutrients. As with any dietary change, you may experience some body changes which could include increased wind, increased bowel movements or mild headaches as you reduce the burden of your previous dietary and lifestyle choices, but these will quickly pass.
